Just a quick follow up on my post on running for beginners from a couple of weeks back. I just have two things I want to mention.
Firstly, for those of you who are over 35 years old, and haven't been involved in any running since you were a teenager, it’s a good idea to get yourself checked over by your GP before you get started. Just to be on the safe side! Secondly, make sure you do some stretching after you run, while you’re still warm! The calf’s especially can get pretty tight from running, but stretching quads, hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors will help keep everything moving how it should. It won’t stop you getting a bit sore from those first few runs, but it will help maintain the range of movement in all the joints involved with running. The photos below show the 6 stretches that I consider must does for running. Have fun running!! Remember to share our posts with your friends. Daryl
