"I wish I could put into words exactly how amazing being a client at Astute Fitness makes you feel. The only way to truly know is to find out yourself but I will do my best by telling you why and how I came about being a client at Astute Fitness: Prior to Astute Fitness, sure, I'd done classes and walked on a treadmill but the weights and pilates area were another challenge. Although many gyms have the 'how to' signs on the wall I never felt like I was doing the exercises correctly. Classes were another thing, of course there's always your 'every-class-Emily' types that would put me to shame about 5 minutes into the class. After a while my gym membership was nothing more than regulatory occurrence on my bank statement. I was referred to Astute Fitness by a friend who told me I had nothing to lose, she'd found a gym that did small group training (so we could train together) with no joining free (yippee) and no lock in contracts. So if I didn't like it, I wasn't trapped. I had my first session with my friend and the two days after that, I was SORE. I was sore in areas I didn't even know muscles existed. It felt good. Perhaps I had been working out ineffectively and incorrectly the whole time?
Astute Fitness doesn't give you an automated franchise workout. The workouts are forever changing so you can't get bored and you are always working on different areas - your flexibility, your strength, your cardio. I train with people who may have different goals to myself but I feel we are all in it together. I have a few injuries but I'm also quite strong. I might have a different weight to the next person, or I might be doing a verified technique but there's no reason you can't stay fit and healthy. You can ask Daryl about anything, from eating plans to training for a fun run, and he will give you advice that can only come from experience. I don't feel like I am walking into a gym where I am another number, or another way the gym makes money, we are a big family at Astute Fitness and I wouldn't think twice about telling someone else to be a part of it." |

When I had my first daughter I wanted to join a gym where I could work out in between breastfeeds. This was important to me as most gyms offered classes which did not offer me that flexibility. I had also put on 30kg with my first pregnancy and wanted loose the weight gradually in a healthy manner. At Astute Fitness, I was able to do that as Daryl (the owner and trainer) has had years of fitness experience and took into account my personal needs i.e. losing weight gradually without compromising my breastfeeding needs, exercising with direct supervision to prevent any risk of injury as well as focusing on strengthening exercises post baby.
I have never felt more secure and confident training at Astute Fitness and I have been a member of a lot of gyms. The members are all friendly and Daryl provides training that is very functional. Daryl also provides a sensible approach to health eating and fitness. I also trained consistently during my second and third pregnancy and always felt very secure training throughout my pregnancies. Since the birth of second and third daughter I have continued to train and been able to achieve fitness and strengthening goals I never thought I would achieve. Astute provides a personal training approach in an affordable way. |

"I've been a member since mid 2012 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Astute. Set goals and Daryl and his team will help you to get there! Personally, I've opted to focus on strength training and over the years have seen positive results far better than training by myself. As Daryl has experience in power lifting competitions, the correct technique is demonstrated while the range of exercises has helped to get the most out of the sessions. Having flexible times for scheduled sessions has also helped, given work and other commitments. It's something to look forward to, rather than a chore, as more often than not, there are other members training at the same time. I have been training at Astute Fitness for the last 2.5 years and it has been the longest amount of time that I have ever consistently committed to my health and fitness. In the past, I tried a number of gyms and fitness programs to improve my strength and lose weight and yet I could never maintain my attendance or achieve my goals. At Astute Fitness, Daryl ensured that I had a realistic program that worked around my existing injuries but also made the training environment a truly supportive and friendly one! It's been great meeting and training with new people and yet I've never been made to feel like I have to 'keep up' or compete with anyone. Instead, Daryl has been great at understanding my own pace but also ensuring that I was challenging myself in every session.
Since starting with Astute, I've lost 10kg and feel that I've come a long way with my health and fitness. "I first joined Astute with the goal of losing weight after spending six months overseas. Daryl (the owner and head trainer) created an individual workout plan to help me reach my weight loss goal. He complemented it with advice about making healthy lifestyle changes and ensuring I was getting the right nutrition as a young woman. I lost 25kg gradually and have kept it off for four years now.
Recently, I made a new goal of increasing my strength. Daryl always ensures I use the correct technique to lift weights safely.
